These Jam Twists with Baked Brie hit all the marks. Flaky, cheesy, chewy, sweet, warm, savory. They have it all. And they are as fun and easy to make as they are to eat. This recipes works wonderfully as an appetizer when entertaining, but is easy enough to put together for unexpected guests or as a fancy snack. There’s also lots of room for flexibility depending on what you have on hand. I used three types of jams and spreads that I like, but you can use any that you prefer or have on hand. Not only is this dish fun to make and delicious to eat, but it’s beautiful to serve! Best of all, it can be made ahead and refrigerated until you are ready to bake and eat. It’s the ultimate appetizer for any occasion.
To start, all you need are a few sheets of crescent dough. These hold for awhile in the refrigerator, so I usually have a few on hand.
Next, it’s time to place the cheese in the center of the dough and spread the jams. I recommend leaving the rind on the Brie, at least on the sides and bottom, to help hold the cheese together as it melts.
I used three different jams and spreads, but you can use as many or as few as you like. Make it all one flavor, split it multiple ways, or try different jams, there’s room to be creative here.
Next it’s time to lay the top piece of dough over the jam and Brie. Lightly seal the Brie in the center, then slice the dough into strips and twist.

At this stage, the twists can be refrigerated until ready to bake. Just be sure to cover tightly so the dough doesn’t dry out.
Finally, time to bake. Brush with egg wash to get that beautiful golden brown color, then bake until the dough twists are cooked through and the Brie is melted.
When the twists and Brie come out of the oven, it’s time to reveal that beautiful melty cheese. Be careful – if you are moving to a serving tray, try not to fold or break the twists. It’s easiest to serve straight from the baking sheet.
Slice around the edge of the Brie to form a removable circle of crust. Carefully remove the top crust, revealing the pool of melted Brie below.
Now it’s ready to enjoy. Pull off individual jam twists and dip into the luscious melted Brie in the center.
As the appetizer cools, the Brie will begin to solidify. At this point, I like to add a cheese knife to the center, so the warm cheese can still be easily spread onto the jam twists.
And just like that, you have a beautiful, delicious, and fun appetizer that can be customized to your liking AND made ahead. There’s nothing not to love!
The flavors I chose – blackberry jam, onion and garlic jam, and Chile fig jam – all work amazingly with the hot Brie cheese. The warm flaky dough and sprinkling of scallions just take it to the next level. What jams will you use? Tell me in the comments so I can try them out!

Jam Twists with Baked Brie
Ingredients
- 2 Eight oz. tubes crescent dough sheet
- ⅔ cup jam (total) can be divided among 2 or 3 types, I used blackberry jam, onion and garlic jam, and chile fig jam
- 8 oz. wheel brie cheese
- 1 egg
- kosher salt
- freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- Carefully open and place each crescent dough sheet onto its own piece of parchment paper. Gently roll out the sheets until approximately 15 inches x 15 inches.
- Slide one of the dough sheets, including the parchment paper, onto a baking sheet.
- Place the wheel of Brie into the center of the dough sheet. Spread the jam or jams onto the dough surrounding the Brie, forming an even layer to each edge.
- Carefully lift the second crescent dough sheet off of its parchment paper and lay over the Brie and jam. Press along the dough, encasing the Brie in dough and covering the jam. If there are any large air bubbles, you can use a knife to poke a small hole, pressing out the bubble.
- Using a knife, slice the dough surrounding the Brie, creating 1 inch wide strips extending out from the center.
- Twist each dough strip 3-4 times, creating a swirl.
- Beat the egg with 1 tablespoon water. Brush the dough with a thin layer of egg wash.
- Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the egg wash.
- Transfer to oven and bake, 15-17 minutes, or until the dough is evenly browned.
- Remove from oven. Use a knife to slice and remove a circle of dough from the top of the Brie.
- Serve immediately, pulling off twists of bread and dipping into the melted Brie.
